This week has been great for Delta Goodrem in the U.S. She has come back with a bang, landing in the heart of America. On Tuesday, she performed with Michael Bolton with his new single "I'm Not Ready" on "Dancing With the Stars", the most watched TV show in America. And the situation turned even more in her favor when Adele, current holder of the #1 album on iTunes, had to turn down the chance of singing the classic "Natural Woman". The producers then came to Delta and offered her the song. She agreed, with less than one hour to reherse. And the results were amazing.
The single between Bolton and Delta was great! She looked elegant and beautiful as always, stunning the audience with her white dress. For those who do not know, the song "I'm Not Ready" was written by Delta. And by the sound of it, the majority of the song is sung by Delta. But the combination between Bolton and Delta was good. The single should be out soon, and I am very excited about it.
Now, the commercials came on, and Delta returns to the stage. The hosts explained the situation with Adele, and said that Delta was gracious to sing the song with only a hour to prepare for a song that she has never sang before in her life. And she really showed America with her talents. People gave her a standing ovation, and the dancers, judges and hosts all thanked Delta for helping them out.
Twitter and Facebook instantly blew up with support for Delta, and curiousness about who she is. Remember, she is very new to American audiences, so being exposed to up to 20 million people was big. And suprisingly, people went to buy the American version of 'Delta', which was released in 2008. I did my research the day afterwards, and these were the results I found and posted on the Delta Forum:
"The entire day, people have said that 'Delta' has charted on iTunes, peaking at #128. Overall that is true, and currently she is holding at #138. But we didn't look at the pop charts. In the pop charts, the album has done much better, peaking at #36. We haven't seen these numbers since July of 2008. And it is incredible, because the album is up with Justin Beiber, Katy Perry and Maroon 5. I don't see any of the individual songs charting yet, but I do see a boost in the 'Believe Again' popularity.
On Youtube, we have seen the video numbers go up. Delta Daily's video of last night's performance has reached close to 25,000 views put together.
On Amazon.com, we see the most sucess. Like many have already seen, the sales of 'Delta' were up 45,000%. 'Innocent Eyes' wasn't far behind in 3rd place. As of yesterday the sales rank for 'Delta' was 72,000 I believe. Earlier today it peaked at 138. And since then, it has dropped to 255. But it remains #4 in the Pop Adult Alternative category and #13 in vocal pop. And on Barnes and Noble, the cd rank was at 12,000. Now it is at 2400."
But three days later, the hype has started to die down. Unfortunately, the album has fallen on iTunes. #98 on pop and it is no longer charting overall. On Amazon, the album has dropped to #470 sales rate. And, the album has also dropped to #12 in Adult Alternative and #31 in Vocal Pop. But sales have jumped up on Barnes and Noble. On Wed, the album rank was at #2426. Now, it is at #330.
But let's look on the bright side. An album getting this much attention since its release in 2008 is huge. Many new people are being exposed to Delta's works, and it will get many current and new fans prepared for when she releases something new in the states. I just hope it is soon, because we don't want anyone to forget her after her 3 year hiatus.
I will keep you all posted on the new updates on the album and Delta. To buy the single "I'm Not Ready" you can click here (Link will be provided when it is released). I'm so excited for the success Delta has recieved over the past day, and I hope more is to come soon!!
