Eva McCall

Eva McCall is not only my aunt, but she is a local writer from the NC mountains.

After graduating high school and college from NC, she married her husband and moved to Michigan.  This is where she became a beautician, and then started attending writing.

"Edge of Heaven" was her first full novel, telling the story of my family, The Carpenters, including the now well known Lucy Davenport Carpenter.  It was released in 1997, and led to the sequel titled "Children of the Mountain."  She has also released a short book with her sister titled "Lucy's Recipes for Mountain Living."  All of these books have sold thousands of copies, and are still selling to this day.

Since the release of these books, she has also released two other novels titled "Button Box" and "Murder on Haint Branch."  For a couple of years, I have constatly asked her when these would be released, and she had always said that she was searching for publishers, but no such luck.  And finally this year, I told her if she wanted to, we could publish it ourselves.  And here we are.  I have helped with her Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as getting the word out that her new book is on the way.  Reactions have been overwhelming supportive, with many anxiously waiting the release of "Murder on Haint Branch."

After reading the book, I have been able to say with confidence that anyone will go to the extreme…even in the mountains.  Eva brilliantly portrays this in Murder on Haint Branch with her deep and complex characters and controversial issues that no one dares speak of.

"Murder on Haint Branch" was released in April 2013, and has sold hundreds of copies in both physical and eBook formats.
