Thunder: Chapter 8

Chapter 8

He had barley made it. His hands were on the rails, and he struggled to hold on, for the boat was now moving. The cold wind was beating on him, forcing him to use every bit of strength to hold on. He was able to use his upper body strength to pull himself up, and to come onto the boat.

Johnny was able to lock the door that lead into the control room. He clutched onto the steering wheel, control the boat from the wind. Water splashed on the windows, making it hard to see. He looked on the scanner; only a few miles till he reached the place where he dropped off the shipment.

He could be ruined for this. If the person who ruined the shipment was apart of the police, or any legal association, they could easily find him.

Something was now pounding against the door. Whoever had beat Nosaj’s men was now on the boat. The door wouldn’t last long. He rummaged through the drawers, and then found a pistol. He would be ready.

Lance kicked and tackled the door. It was starting to break down. After a few more kicks, he was able to knock it down completely. He saw the man controlling the boat. With Lance knocking the door down, the man put the ship on auto pilot, letting the boat control itself.

Johnny grabbed the gun, and ran towards Lance. He wasn’t going to quit this far. He tried to hit Lance with the handle of the gun, but only hit the wall. He withdrew it, and tried to point it at Lance to pull the trigger.

Lance caught his wrist, and swung it back to point the gun at the opposite direction as Johnny pulled the trigger. Lance heard Johnny’s wrist crack and soon realized it was broken.

Johnny yelled in pain as he grabbed his wrist. He put pressure on it to try to ease the pain. The bullet that was shot hit the control panel, causing a fire to break. It wouldn’t be long until it would cause the whole boat to explode. He knew he had to get out, and fast. He dodged a swing with Johnny’s good arm. It hit the opposite wall, and when Lance had the chance, he pushed Johnny’s face towards the wall, knocking him out.

Sparks and flames started to fly around the room, making the room so intensely hot. The boat wouldn’t be able to hold much longer. Lance started to leave, but stopped and looked at the mess below him. He picked up Johnny, and braced him with his shoulders.

He coughed as smoke filled the room. He set Johnny down, and grabbed two life jackets. They were going to have to swim once they jumped off the boat. He buckled a life jacket on Johnny, and then one for himself. He opened the door that led to outside. The wind was beating down hard. The rain was hitting even harder. He threw Johnny into the cold water, and he followed.

The icy water dropped the temperature in his body. The cold was starting to set in. They couldn’t last long in this kind of weather. He pulled Johnny’s life jacket, and started to swim towards the shore.

The boat soon exploded, lighting the water with red flames and smoke. He ducked under water to avoid fire hitting them. The fire warmed the water, but only a little.

They finally made it to the shore, breathless. Johnny was still unconscious. Lance threw Johnny onto the solid ground. He could hear sirens coming. They finally got the message that something was truly going on. He had done all that he could do. The rain had finally subsided. He looked at the ball of flames into the ocean.

He looked up farther into the sky. The lightning looked like fireworks. Then, when it looked like it was over, a big bolt of lightning flashed, spider webbing across the sky. He looked at it for the longest time.

He could see the police car light shining. They were getting close. The bolt of lightning disappeared, bringing Lance back into reality. He turned around, and ran towards his motorbike, and started to head home, as the police entered the dockyards, and they sun started to shine over the city.
