"SAG nominee Saffron Burrows and Academy Award nominee Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio join Academy Award nominee Jeff Goldblum for Season Nine Two-part season opener to feature departure of long time cast members Emmy Award nominee Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian. Guest stars include Tracy Pollan, Dan Lauria, Ralph Macchio, Dan Butler and William Mapother

LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, USA Network’s hit original scripted series, will return with 16 all new episodes on its new night, Tuesday, March 30 at 10/9c. LAW &ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, produced by Wolf Films and Universal Cable Productions, created and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, was developed by RenĂ© Balcer. Shot entirely in and around New York City, the third installment of the “Law & Order” franchise takes viewers deep into the minds of its criminals while following the intense psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve its crimes.

After a triumphant eight-season run, Emmy nominee Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian say goodbye to LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. The two part season opener will showcase the brilliant partnership between Detectives Goren & Eames as they, along with Detectives Nichols and Stevens, unravel a case with devastating consequences for Captain Ross.

Over the past several months I've started watching Law & Order for the first time and am a die-hard convert. Of the various franchises, Criminal Intent is by far my favorite, in no small part to the presence and performances by Vincent D' Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. One of the things that I enjoy most of L&O:CI is that it's simply an hour of television that I can enjoy without committing to the series.

Television's become so serialized over the last few years that most shows are self-committed to story arcs and less and less with single episode shows.

The two-part premiere of Criminal Intent flips the series on it's ear and starts fresh. A major character dies, two other characters leave, leaving the show with a new series sharing the same title.

Jeff Goldblum's Zach Nichols returns an by the second hour of the premiere, the show already has a slightly different tone as we see it's focus shift to Nichols as departing D'Onofrio's Det. Bobby Goren, Kathryn Erbe's, Alexandra Eames and Eric Bogosian's Capt. Danny Ross all start to take secondary focus.

The Law & Order franchise is known for it's turnover, but this is the first time that the entire core cast has handed over it's reigns.

Executive producer has nothing to worry about, despite my love for the previous incarnation, this reinvention works."
