Thunder: Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Blood Soaked

Then on a normal day at the school, just after Carrie finished her work, she was doing some last minute paperwork when she told Lance to head on to the car, and that Bonnie, their housekeeper and driver, was waiting for him. He obeyed, and headed to the car to wait for her.

Carrie finished signing the last paper. She got up, and started to gather her stuff. She heard the door of her office open. She thought it was Lance.

“Lance, I told you I am coming,” she said in a frustrated tone. She turned around, assuming that she would see Lance’s face. But what she saw was a tall figure. It was too dark to see anything. And before she could do anything, the figure knocked her out, and she fell to the floor.

Lance left the car door open to get some fresh air. Then a shriek from his mother was heard throughout the school campus. Objects could be heard thrown and dropped in her office. Then an unexpected, and horrifying gun shot was fired. Lance and Bonnie covered there ears to avoid the terrible sound.

Then when the sound was removed from their ears, they stared at the doors that lead to the school’s lobby, which lead to Carrie’s office.

The only thing that went through Lance’s mind was, “She’s alright, it wasn’t her, she’ll be running out to see if I am alright any second.” But she never came. Tears started to swell from his eyes, and drop from his face. He started to run to her office.

Bonnie attempted to keep him from going in, but failed. “Lance, don’t!” yelled Bonnie. But Lance was already near the lobby doors. Bonnie started to run as well, still trying to stop him from going into Carrie’s office.

Lance finally got to her door, and slammed it open. Then his answer of questions and worrying if his mom was involved in that gunshot was confirmed. There she was, lying on the floor, looking so scared. Red covered the carpet, and was starting to flow onto the creaks of the tile floor. His knees gave way, and he dropped to the floor, bursting into tears. Bonnie soon followed him, seeing the same thing he saw. She started to cry as well. The scene sickened her so much, that she covered her mouth to contain herself from throwing up. Bonnie slowly bent down to touch Lance with comfort.

Bonnie touched Lance’s shoulder, trying to give him comfort, even though it didn’t help.

He looked at his mother. He sniffed the air, trying to collect every bit of perfume that he could smell that was on his mother; for he knew that he would never be able to smell it again.

By the looks of things, she put up a good fight. Feet away from her was the crystal award that she had received for best principal of the year. He guessed that she threw it to at least knock the killer out. Not long after that, they could hear the sirens come closer, closer.

Lance refocused his mind back towards the picture. His eyes soon started to water, but he held the tears back. He could not believe that Bonnie insisted that they kept the picture out. That picture resembled so much betrayal and heartache. But she wanted me to keep it out, so he guessed that she wanted to remind him of the good life that he used to have. But that was the other life. And it was time to move on.
